Somebody is a quick editor

Within 1 hour of the Cars leader singer Rick Ocasek putting Todd Rundgren on notice on tonight’s episode of The Colbert Report (pronounced “rapour”), some one had edited his Wikipedia entry to say this.

The New Cars
In late 2005, rumors began circulating that the influential Boston-based band The Cars were planning to reform despite bass player Benjamin Orr’s death and the oft-mentioned refusal of former lead singer Ric Ocasek to even consider any reunion.

Ocasek has had revenge of sorts; on the April 17, 2006 edition of The Colbert Report, show host Stephen Colbert placed Rundgren “on notice” at the behest of Ocasek.

Now that’s taking the bull by the horns. I’d like to give a big “congrats” to both of the page editors! You keep America straight people, keep it up so losers like me can look up useful compelling information.

What’s my hate factor?

We found a little easter egg of sorts when we were catching up on our Daily Shows last night. Rob Cordy was doing a piece on how he, as a racist, was discriminated in the everyday world. It was a pretty funny piece, especially the flashbacks, but the best part was at the end of the skit he flashed a list of people that he himself hated. The list started off with pretty normal content and at a normal speed, but it started going too fast to read.

Now, as part of the Tivo community, I have the power to pause the list and read it at will. Some of the notables on the slo-mo list were “People who get all their news from the Daily Show” (we’re semi-guilty) and some others listed here. As we’re reading through the list Brandy notices that one of the list items was listpauser@yahoo.com, so I decided to drop it a line, exchange below. Apparently some of the folks from the Tivo community did the same thing, but their replies were a little different.

anyone there?

I just wanted to see if this was a real account.

Then I got this reply back a few hours later

Thanks for your email. Please enjoy this not-at-all automated response, and, for a special message just for you, head over to www.listpauser.com.Best,
Rob

P.S. If you are writing to point out that “Canadian” was on the list twice, please be aware that that is because I hate them double. If you are writing to point out that “Star-Bellied Sneetches” was misspelled, then please be aware that I also hate nit-pickers.

I checked out the site the email linked to and my first response “that’s kind of neat” but, when I found the guestbook the Cordry had set up for the link, it turned into “that’s awesome!”. Leave it to a seasoned hater to give the masses a method to spread the hate around. I just wish he had posted a full hate list so I could determine my “hate factor”. I also wish I knew what he level of automation was, but I guess there’s no way to really tell.
